Pyrex

Everything began thanks to the genius of one pioneering couple: Bessie and Jessie Littleton. Bessie grew tired of seeing her glass dishes crack during cooking. All her efforts were ruined. She had to start over every time. But the young American is not one to give up easily.

She looked for a solution when... EUREKA!

She had a brilliant idea to use a highly resistant material from industry, NONEX glass, to cook her dishes. It was a revelation!

This glass, developed by the American company Corning, was SO sturdy that it was originally used to protect the bulbs of railroad signal lanterns. Before then, rain would often shatter them.

With her husband, Bessie tested and developed the best possible cooking dish. This marked the birth of the Pyrex® dish, the first ULTRA-resistant glass baking dish.

Although the Pyrex® brand was born in the United States, its story continued to unfold in the workshops of France. In 1922, glassblowers Clovis and Léon Régent, pioneers of the brand in France, produced their first borosilicate flasks at the glassworks of Bagneaux-sur-Loing.

In 1970, the factory was relocated to Châteauroux, which gradually became the main production site. This is where the second chapter of our story is written, and where every challenge is met at a relentless pace!

Made in France

In our factory in Châteauroux, is where the centrepiece of our brand is found: the furnace! MONUMENTAL, it spans nearly 100 square meters and processes over 150 tons of material every day!

Since then, this has been where Pyrex® products are manufactured, pressed, and moulded. A long-standing choice for 'made in France' and its excellence.
